Who We Are

Del Norte Credit Union (DNCU) is a not-for-profit financial cooperative, completely owned by our members. Founded in 1954, our roots embrace the culture and family traditions of northern New Mexico. DNCU is a strong, stable credit union that offers a wide variety of quality financial services and is an active proponent for financial literacy. DNCU is dedicated to helping our members improve their lives by providing sound, unbiased financial advice. Think of us as more than your financial institution. We're your ideal partner for a better future, always here to help you succeed.

We offer products and services to make your life easier–today, tomorrow, and always. We provide you with a safe place for your money to grow, and help you find the right real estate loan, auto loan, credit card and checking account that will fit your needs. Even though we are the 6th largest credit union in New Mexico, our service remains personable and welcoming. We have all the conveniences of large financial institutions while being a local community-owned cooperative. We have six full service branches in northern New Mexico, as well as full service mortgage and investment services. But our superior service extends beyond our walls—our online services, mobile apps such as remote deposit capture, and member service telephone center allow you to keep in touch when you need to. And if you don’t see a branch location nearby, just look for another Shared Branching Co-op in your area and stop in to do your Del Norte business.

We actively support the community by donating funds and employee volunteer hours to organizations in our communities. We believe that improving the lives of our employees, our members, and the community-at-large is a cooperative responsibility. For more information, see our Community Engagement page.

Welcome to Del Norte Credit Union, we're glad to have you!

DNCU History

Del Norte Credit Union is a state chartered, community credit union. Founded in 1954 as Los Alamos Scientific Lab Credit Union, it served just 54 members with $1,160.00 in assets and was the first financial institution in Los Alamos. In 1959, the name changed to Los Alamos Employees Credit Union, servicing 2,717 members. The field of membership was expanded in 1977 to include all persons living or working in Los Alamos County. Membership grew to 16,825 and share accounts became federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). In 1981, the credit union became a community charter, allowing us to provide financial services to individuals in the surrounding communities. In 1998, Santa Fe Federal Employees Federal Credit Union merged with Los Alamos Credit Union.

In April 1999, the credit union's name was officially changed to Del Norte Credit Union, which now services New Mexico and more than 50,000 members. The credit union's services includes Consumer and Real Estate Loans, VISA cards, Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs), Share Certificates, Money Market, and Checking accounts. The technological resources include Tellerphone, Mobile Banking, and Online Banking which includes Bill Pay, External Transfers and Money Management. Members have 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week access to our member service center and can access their funds through ATMs and their Visa Check Cards. And in 2013, DNCU joined the Co-op Shared Branching network with more than 5,500 participating credit unions and access to nearly 30,000 ATMs nationwide. Del Norte Credit Union continues to work hard to provide a 5-star experience to our member/owners.
