Information For Petition Candidates

Three positions on the Del Norte Credit Union (DNCU) Board of Directors will be open this spring.  These positions are for three-year terms.  Following the bylaws and policies of DNCU, the Nominations and Elections Committee (NEC) has nominated three individuals to fill the three positions. 

If you would like to have your name placed on the ballot, you must:
1) file the Petition Candidate package by February 19, 2010,
2) meet the requirements for candidacy, and
3) meet the requirements for a valid petition.

The Petition Candidate package may be picked up from Carol Lucero at the DNCU Administrative Headquarters in Pojoaque.  Carol may be reached at (505) 455-5420.

The requirements for candidacy to the Board Of Directors are discussed in Article 7 Sections 6 and 7 of the DNCU bylaws:
6.   A minimum age of eighteen years by the date of election or appointment shall be required as a qualification for eligibility to hold elective  or appointive office .
7.   Candidates for elective office shall be Del Norte Credit Union members in good standing who have been members of Del Norte Credit Union for at least one year by the deadline date for filing for candidacy.

The requirements for the petition, which for this election must be signed by 441 qualified members, are discussed in Article 7 Section 10 of the DNCU bylaws:
10. A member not nominated by the NEC may have his/her name placed on the ballot by submitting to the chair of the NEC, at least 90 calendar days before the annual meeting, a petition requesting that the member’s name be placed on the ballot.  The petition must be signed by at least 1% or 500 members, whichever is smaller, who are in good standing and are qualified voters of Del Norte Credit Union. One percent of the membership shall be based on the number of members reported to NCUA for the most recent June 30.  The format of the petition shall be determined by the NEC but must include each petitioner’s printed name, signature, and a unique personal identifier, such as: address, date of birth, or last four digits of SSN, for use in verifying membership status.
