DNCU Scholarship 2010

THE PROGRAM
Del Norte Credit Union has established a scholarship program to assist credit union members who are high school seniors and plan to continue their education in college or vocational school programs. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student’s choice. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability or national origin.

ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
• Be a member of Del Norte Credit Union prior to the application deadline.
• Be a high school senior.
• Plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire 2010-2011 academic year.
• Have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).

AWARDS
If selected as a recipient, the student will receive a one time award of $1,000. Up to twelve (12) awards will be granted. Assuming sufficient qualified applicants, two awards will be granted to students from each of these five selected high schools:

• Los Alamos High School, Los Alamos, NM
• Santa Fe High School, Santa Fe, NM
• Capital High School, Santa Fe, NM
• Pojoaque Valley High School, Pojoaque, NM
• Espanola Valley High School, Espanola, NM

Two awards will be granted from all other applicants. Should insufficient applications be received from a selected high school, any unallocated awards will be granted to students from the “at-large” applicants. Awards are for undergraduate study only.

APPLICATION
Students attending one of the five selected high schools above must use an original application obtained from their high school’s counseling office. (Photocopies will not be accepted.) Other high school senior credit union members may obtain an application by clicking the Scholarship Application link. All interested students must complete the application and mail it along with a current, complete transcript of grades to Scholarship Management Services postmarked no later than March 15. Grade reports are not acceptable. Online transcripts must display student name, school name, grade and credit hours earned for each course, and term in which each course was taken. Applicants will receive acknowledgment of receipt of their application. If an acknowledgment card is not received within
three weeks, applicants may call Scholarship Management Services to verify that the application has been received. Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information. Applications are evaluated on the information supplied; therefore, answer all questions as completely as possible. Incomplete applications will not be evaluated. All applications received are considered confidential and are reviewed only by Scholarship Management Services. Although not considered in the selection process, applicants are required to attach an essay that will be sent to Del Norte Credit Union for possible promotional purposes.

SELECTION OF RECIPIENTS
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and ispirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. Submitted essays are not part of the selection process. Financial need is not considered. Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship Management Services. In no instance does any officer or employee of the Del Norte Credit Union play a part in the selection. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final. Only recipients will be notified in late April. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.

PAYMENT OF SCHOLARSHIPS
Scholarship Management Services processes scholarship payments on behalf of the Del Norte Credit Union on August 15. Checks are mailed to each recipient's home address and are made payable to the school for the student.

OBLIGATIONS
Recipients have no obligation to Del Norte Credit Union. They are, however, required to notify Scholarship Management Services of any changes in address, school enrollment, or other relevant information and to send a complete transcript when requested.

REVISIONS
Del Norte Credit Union reserves the right to review the conditions and procedures of this scholarship program and to make changes at any time including termination of the program.
